Luke Grimes is an actor, musician, singer, and songwriter whose work spans film, television, and music.
On screen, Grimes is best known for his role as Kayce Dutton on Paramount Network’s Yellowstone, where his performance helped anchor one of the most successful television series of the past decade and made him a fan favorite with audiences worldwide. He now stars in the leading role of the upcoming CBS series MARSHALS, which premieres this year and marks a return to broadcast television, placing him at the center of a contemporary, character-driven drama.
In music, Grimes has established himself as a respected voice in modern country. His self-titled debut album, produced by Dave Cobb, followed his critically noted EP Pain Pills or Pews and introduced him as a songwriter drawn to honesty, restraint, and traditional country storytelling. His breakout track “No Horse to Ride” debuted in the Top 10 on the Country Songs Sales Chart and helped push his catalog past 200 million global streams. His highly anticipated sophomore album, REDBIRD, is set for release on April 3, further defining his artistic perspective and approach.
Raised in Ohio, Grimes grew up playing music in church and listening to the classic country and outlaw artists his father loved, including Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings. After moving to Los Angeles and performing in an Americana band, he later relocated to Montana during the filming of Yellowstone. He now divides his time between Nashville and Montana, writing with songwriters such as Dave Cobb, Jessie Jo Dillon, Rodney Clawson, Nicolle Galyon, Jessi Alexander, Aaron Raitiere, Brent Cobb, Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna, and Liz Rose.
Grimes has performed at major festivals including Stagecoach, Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival, and Under the Big Sky Festival, and has headlined sold-out tours. His work across screen and music reflects a consistent focus on character, storytelling, and authenticity.
