Global country force Josh Ross is set to release his full-length debut album Later Tonight, out September 19 via MCA / Mercury Nashville / Universal Music Canada / CORE Records – pre-add / pre-save HERE.
Produced by longtime collaborator Matt Geroux who also helmed Ross’s JUNO Award-winning EP Complicated, the 15-track collection doubles down on the emotive, rock-tinged country that has defined his worldwide ascent. From the addictive bent of U.S. Country Radio #1 single “Single Again,”to double-edged early releases “Hate How You Look,” and “Leave Me Too,” Ross’ raw admissions shed light on the endless possibilities of what could happen, Later Tonight.
“You know, I work good under deadlines and pressure in regards to like submitting stuff, but I also get like super frustrated and I’m like one of those people when people are like, this has to be done by now. I’m like, no, it doesn’t. You know, like I get kind of against the grain on things and uh yeah, just really to be completely honest, I’m one those people once I turn songs in, I don’t listen to them again. Yesterday was the first time that I had listened to the record since I submitted it three or four months ago. um And I just… uh, it’s like a chapter of my life has been completed and I get to go ship it off and hope for the best. So for me it would definitely be a relief. I feel like it’s not like a not positive weight, but there’s a weight of getting everything done and obviously still until the release date I’ll have a little bit of that. But now I’m excited. I’ve already started to write just for fun and it’s not for a project, it’s just to write again and see where that leads.”
“The title of this record, and the title track, became the thread that tied this project together over the last couple of years,” Ross says. “Every single we put out, every show we’ve played has led to this. We dug deep writing for this album, leaning into getting caught in your feelings, breaking up, making up. No matter what, all roads led back to ‘Later Tonight.’”
In tandem with the announcement, the reigning CCMA Entertainer of the Year also gives fans the title track of the album “Later Tonight” now – listen HERE.
Ross earned 6 CCMA nominations, tying with Cameron Whitcomb as this year’s most-nominated artist. His nominations include Fans’ Choice Award presented by Bud Light, Male Artist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, Video of the Year, Single of the Year, and Musical Collaboration of the Year.
