FIRST FULL-LENGTH ALBUM OUT NOW LISTEN HERE

Today, global country force Josh Ross released his highly anticipated full-length debut album Later Tonight, via MCA / Mercury Nashville / Universal Music Canada / CORE Records. Listen HERE.
“Later tonight my album is a collection of songs that I’ve been working towards for the last three to four years. I feel like it showcases the multiple sides to my personality but also sonically as a songwriter and as an artist. Hope each and every one of you enjoy and get to know me better through this record.”
Produced by longtime collaborator Matt Geroux who also helmed Ross’s JUNO Award-winning EP Complicated, the 15-track collection doubles down on the emotive, rock-tinged country that has defined his world-dominating ascent.
The album includes standout tracks like Ross’ most-added new country radio single “Hate How You Look,” first-ever U.S. country #1 “Single Again,” Akon collaboration “Drunk Right Now (Na Na Na),” recently released title track “Later Tonight,” and more.
“I’m ready to have this album out in the world,” Ross says. “I moved to Nashville 7 years ago, and have been working towards this moment long before that. I’m proud of what this album turned out to be; it took a lot of living to make it, and I hope that every person that listens to it finds a song or a situation that they can relate to.”
“The title of this record, and the title track, became the thread that tied this project together over the last couple of years,” Ross shared in July upon announcing the album. “Every single we put out, every show we’ve played has led to this. We dug deep writing for this album, leaning into getting caught in your feelings, breaking up, making up. No matter what, all roads led back to ‘Later Tonight.’”

AUDIO CUT X CUT:
“So Later Tonight is one of those songs where I feel like it’s just the late night fun vibe. It feels like the lights are coming on at the bar and we’re trying to figure out what we’re doing. And that’s kind what we were going for that song is just to keep it a fun, happy song.“
“Hate How You Look is a song that reminds me of sometimes when you go through a breakup, it’s always interesting to see somebody down the road. And sometimes they look a little better than when you left them.”
“My Side of Town is an honest song where I get to tell my side of the story in regards to a relationship that I had been in and the process that I went through.“
“Smith & Wesson is the first gun that I ever got to shoot. So it’s very cool that I have a song called Smith & Wesson and how relatable it is to watching a girl go away.”
“Leave Me Too is an honest song on the record for when I look back and I realized that I probably could have not dated a version of myself back then and understand why maybe some people didn’t stick around.”
“Half Lit is a song on the record that I feel like I haven’t got to tap into. It feels like a late night kind of vibe and just a mysterious kind of song.”
“Mad At Me was one of the songs on the record that I felt like I needed to have 808s on. We tried to produce it different ways, but it was just a song with aggressive lyric and kind of, it felt like something that I wanted to say to somebody a long time ago and needed to have kind of a more aggressive beat behind it.”
“Break My Heart in Two I wrote with one of my best friends, Mason Thornley, who I’ve wrote lots of songs with. And we just wanted to have like a nostalgic song on the record and it feels like the course is kind of soaring. It kind of reminds me of some old like Hinder or Nickelback and that’s what we were going for with this song.”
“Whiskey is the song on the record that makes me realize sometimes when I had a little too much fun or the decisions I made were probably based on me drinking whiskey. I felt like it was cool to put the blame on a drink instead of myself for once.”
“Single Again is a song that I felt like had to be on the record. I’m proud to say it was my first number one at US Country Radio and is one of my most popular songs. It’s also a true story about me buying a girl a and just wishing she was single again.”
“Songs You Gave Me is one of the oldest songs on the record. It’s something that I wrote two, three years ago when I was going through some relationship changes. And I feel like it’s probably the most honest song on the record.“
“Namin’ Names is one of the most fun songs on the record in regards to feelings, but when you listen to the lyric it’s actually sad. I think that’s what makes this song really cool, is that sometimes it’s hard to hear rumors about somebody that maybe you were with before and then now where they’re at.“
“Drunk Right Now is a full circle moment for me on this record. I got to rewrite one of Akon’s songs and I at first thought I was gonna be putting it out by myself, to me only to find out that he was also gonna be on the record and I got to have my first collaboration with one of my childhood idols, Akon.”
“Nobody From Nowhere is, for the first time, I feel like I’ve kind of wrote a life song. I never really got to tap into many things other than girls and relationships and the things that I’ve been through. And this song for me is just a true story about where I came from, how I got here, and some people at times would have called me a nobody from nowhere.”
“Scared of Getting Sober for me is probably one the most powerful songs on the record. I wanted to close off the record with this song just because it’s an honest story with my life and it’s so normalized to drink in the country music world and I think it is in other jobs too and I think people can really relate to this song and the challenges.”
Last weekend, Ross solidified his standout year at the CCMAs, taking home two of the night’s biggest honors: Entertainer of the Year and Single of the Year for “Single Again.” Earning FIVE new trophies in total, the banner night adds to a career-high week.
On the road, Ross will embark on a six-city support run with Dylan Scott stateside this fall before he hops across the pond for a headline double-header in London at The Camden Assembly celebrating Later Tonight. Just announced, Ross will headline his 17-date Later Tonight Tour across Canada starting February 6, with direct support from Chandler Walters. Tickets are on sale now HERE, full routing below.
